Saturday

We all went to the Chestnut Hill Mall today to look for glasses for Laura's dad.  Laura had to try out some frames, of course.
I like the red ones!
There was some horticulture event happening on at the mall with different landscapers and the 4 H club brought cute soft bunnies.  They were really cute and Laura got to pet this little guy.

Laura also got to plant a sunflower and brought it home.
Then we all went out for some ice cream.  Laura's new favorite flavor is fat free black raspberry yogurt.  No lie.  This is the 3rd time in a row that she has asked for this flavor.
At 3pm, we went to Rayan's birthday party at his home.  They rented a Moonbounce and the slide!  I was so excited, I mean, Laura was really excited.  The kids went wild (I got to play on this too, heehee).

The boys found a snake in the back yard and killed it.  Poor snake.  The kids were all fascinated by it.   Laura felt bad for it.  How much do you love Vivica's (girl on the right side) expression?

This is Rayan's cake with an adorable alligator.
Rayan's got a flameless candle so his dad lit a match for him to blow out.
I don't know when kids stop getting excited by bubbles.  The all went crazy.  Look at them!
Laura had a blast.  There were a ton of kids at this party and the Moonbounce was genius.  The kids played on this nonstop and then were completely wiped out by the end of the party.

Wild turkeys!

How crazy is this?!  We came out of the house this morning to be greeted by 2 pairs of wild turkeys.  The males weren't too happy with us.

Up

We went to see UP in 3-D tonight.

These 2 were really funny and I loved their reactions during the movie.  Laura was scared in some of the parts and made some loud noises.  In the funny parts, laughed really loud.  Wait, I laughed out loud too.   Great movie.  I loved it.

Basketball

Laura's dad showed her how to shoot some hoops for about 5 minutes. Makes me think that there is minute hope of a possible college scholarship and her parents can retire before the age of 85.

Memorial Day Weekend

Laura and I took a quick trip to visit Hah Dah Buh Gee for the weekend. We drove down on Friday morning and arrived around 2PM.
We enjoyed some Rita's water ice.  Yummy.
On Saturday, there was a small picnic for Korean veterans at Lotimer Park in Northeast Philly. It was  a nice park.  Not many people showed but my dad met up with a few of his friends.  It was very low key.

That night, we just hung out and got some Burger King whoppers for dinner at my dad's request.

On Sunday, Laura and I ate breakfast (yep, that's cereal and kimchi) and packed up to go visit Ymo in New York.
We got to Brooklyn about 1PM.  We had lunch with Ymo at Height's cafe and then we walked around and went to a small playground.  It was very hot and humid.

For dinner: Iron Chef sushi (my favorite place).
I picked up some bagels and lox spread to take back to Boston and Laura needed to have a slice before we left.
We left Brooklyn at 8:30pm and got back to Boston past midnight.

Ice cream party

There was a promotional free ice cream party at the small water park that's behind our gym. They made no mention that the swimming pool was going to be open so we were ill prepared. We invited Thomas to come.
It was 90 degrees outside but the water was very cold. They both dipped their feet into the water.
Click on this photo of Thomas. It's pretty cool.

Then they only ate 3 bites of their ice cream so they could go back into the water.
Of course, this happened. Ahhh to be a kid again. Completely soaked.

Dreary Sunday

It was rainy and overcast this morning and still very chilly.
Laura and I made some Rice Krispies treats for breakfast.

After lunch and a quick trip to the gym, we went over to Thomas' house.

Then we went to Millenium park and the kids played soccer (or tried to play with some crying on Laura's part (No crying in soccer!))

After dinner, because Laura was a good girl for most of the weekend, I let her mop the floor.

A whole lot of nothin

Laura's dad is at a conference in Chicago so it's been a nonstop fun girls weekend.  Ok, not really.
I got a haircut this morning which turned out just blah.  I have yet to find one place in the Boston area where they know how to cut Asian hair.

Then Laura and I went to the park but didn't stay long because it was really chilly.  She worked on her skills on the monkey bars the whole time and ended up with some blisters on her hands.

We did some window shopping at Ikea and got some frozen yogurt.

Then Target for some necessities.
BORING DAY!
I was feeling the same way.

Mother's Day

Laura helped me to make my Mother's Day cake.  She tried to help me decorate it this morning but kept getting distracted and couldn't get the icing out of the tubes.  Essentially, she just ate frosting this morning.

After Laura got dressed, she decided that she wanted to dance.

After her dance moves, she begged me to go to the gym so she could do some Yoga.  I played an hour of tennis.  Then I took her to Lars Anderson park.

It was a gorgeous day but really windy.  It was packed and Laura had a great time.  Laura finally learned how to get across the monkey bars.

We went back home and planted 2 tomato and 1 jalapeno for our very limited deck garden.
We had a big dinner and ate the chocolate cake for dessert.  Yum yum.

Chatter

I know, I'm a bad mother.  I took Laura to Burger King for dinner but hey, I was in the mood for a whopper and I had a coupon!  Her dad was at work so it was girls night out.
I can imagine what our conversations will be like when she's 16.  I have a feeling that it won't change much.

She dressed herself

'nuf said.

Friday. Nice day.

As soon as I got Laura home, she got a piece of paper and coloring pencil out and started frantically drawing.
She was deep in concentration.
This is what she drew.  It's a picture of Laura going down the stairs to go to the bathroom while mom and dad are in bed.  Looks like mom and dad are sleeping in coffins or the coffins are sliding down the stairs.   I guess this was something that she had to draw immediately.  I don't even want to know the symbolism of this one.
More stickers on her head.  Very chic.
It was such a nice day today so we went outside to walk around.  The neighborhood kids were out so Laura hung out with them.  They found a caterpillar in one of the yards and Laura was completely fascinated.

Laura was really excited about the caterpillar and so we took it home, put it in a container with some leaves and we'll see if this turns into a butterfly.  She named him Sleepy.  I checked and it's not dead, if any of you were wondering.

Sushi and Ice cream

On Friday night, Laura and I met up with Thomas and his dad for some sushi at Mr. Sushi in Brookline.  Both of them ate a ton.  Now Laura loves the salmon and all of the choice sushi fish that I like and she won't eat the stuff like the shrimp and maki rolls that I don't care for.  Sigh.
After dinner, we went to JP Licks and they both got some ice cream.  Thomas wore most of his ice cream on his clothes.
