Matthew's birthday party

Laura was invited to our neighbor, Matthew's, birthday party. It was held at a gymnastics place. It took Laura a while to warm up because she didn't know the other kids and she had her standard tongue hanging out of her mouth (her "I'm uncomfortable" look) and kept coming up to me and sitting on my lap. It wasn't until the free play that she started having a good time.
Laura and Matthew (don't get jealous Thomas!)
Parachute fun.
Pizza and cake.

More baking

Ok. I think I need an intervention. Is there a Baking Anonymous or something? Laura and I made Rhubarb-apple cake. It's a recipe that I got from here. I've made this cake before and it is one of my favorites. It is not too sweet, very light and really brings out the flavor of the fruit. I used up the last of my reserved frozen rhubarb. It's also incredibly quick and easy to make (even a 3 year old can do it!). If you go to this site, you should also try the gaspacho recipe. That is fantastic.

Milk

This girl does not like drinking milk. I've tried everything: chocolate, malt, strawberry, crack. Do you know any child who doesn't like chocolate milk?! I even bought HOT chocolate milk mix with marshmallows and she turned her nose! The only way she will drink it is plain or with strawberry Nesquick but even then, it's a process. Dang, if I could, I would drink a gallon of this stuff, every day.

Sunday

Another exciting Sunday. The weather was gorgeous. Laura and I went to Lowes then the gym (playing tennis and Laura in the kids playroom). Here she is after coming home and hanging out with Matthew. They are becoming fast little friends. Thomas may start getting jealous (yeah right). Look at the 'fro!
Dinner: chicken, rice and delicata squash. Laura attacking the chicken.
Here is my new Meyers lemon tree that Ymo bought me for my birthday. I repotted it and put in front of the window. It's so cute.
Here is 1 of 2 plants that I bought from Lowes. It was in the "distressed" bin and cost 25 cents each. I cleaned it up and cut out all the dead stuff and it looks good as new. The other is an African violet plant which is also really cute.
