Painting

Today, after her swimming lesson and yoga class, we came home, ate lunch and I tried to relax. Laura pulled out all of her paints and got busy.

That is a sticker and a tattoo on her cheek.

I don't know why she keeps cutting off all the people's heads in her drawings and paintings.

Lazy Saturday

How to train your dragon Movie
We did do something on Friday night. We went to see "How to Train Your Dragon" in 3D with Thomas and his parents. I thought it was very entertaining. In the middle of it, Laura said "I don't like this movie." but when it was over, she said she liked it. I doubt she would want to see it again since there aren't any princesses in this movie.

We woke up late on Saturday and didn't have anything planned. I told Laura to get dressed and she came down looking like this. I asked her if she was going to beg for money on the street corner.

We did make some cookies. I got this recipe from here. I made half with Rolos and the other half with the mini Reese's peanut butter cups. You make the dough first and then chill it. Cut it up into small pieces and wrap it around the candy. It was easy and Laura enjoyed making them but she didn't want to eat any! She didn't even like the Rolo and spit it out in the trash! What is wrong with this girl?
She wouldn't even eat this. I tried to force her. I'm a good mom like that. I must say that the peanut butter ones are much yummier than the caramel.

Fruit salad, yummy yummy

Glorious Saturday

Laura begged me to take her to Lars Anderson playground. It's not because it's a gorgeous park. It's not because of the lovely pond and the great scenery.

This is the sole reason we had to come. The monkey bars.

Then we went home.

Gorgeous days

The weather this week has been unbelievably good. It actually feels like spring. It's so rare because New England NEVER has a spring. It's usually just long drawn out cold dreary days with rain and bleakness. I know that this is an anomaly so I took full advantage of it.
After I picked up Laura from school today, we cleaned out my car and stayed out for most of the afternoon. Laura flew her kite and then we went to the playground. After we got home, I made these yummy delicious ribs and ate outside! I think Laura liked them, ya think?

Party

There was a school party from 6:30pm to 8:30pm tonight. It was to thank the students for collecting boxtops. They had a DJ, games and prizes. Laura met up with some of her classmates.
Lucia, Lilah and Laura.

Lilah Jean jumping bean.

This school is preparing her well for obligatory line dancing at future weddings. I'm hoping there are also some classes in dishwashing and laundry too.

Cadbury Egg

I introduced Laura to my all time favorite chocolate treat (the most coveted when I was a child because of its gooey center and chocolate cover. It was probably because you couldn't get it all year round). She opened the package with some trepidation.

She said, to my utter dismay, "this is gross, mom".
Instead, she wanted to try the Trader Joe's 72% cocao dark chocolate bar.

She liked this better than the Cadbury Egg! What is wrong with this girl?!

Happy birthday, Thomas!

Thomas turned 6 today. Instead of a party, his parents invited us for dinner at Bugaboo Creek! I can't believe he's 6 already.

Tom and his mom.
Laura and Thomas attacked the birthday cake. Thomas' mom and I got a small taste but barely. They both inhaled it.

We sat right next to the fireplace which was nice.

The night ended with a short dance number. I know it's hard to believe but they claim that they are performing an Irish step dance (two not very Irish looking kids, I might add). Sorry for the dark video but it was very dim in the restaurant.

The Cape

Breakfast.

We were invited to see Thomas' house down at the Cape today. Laura and Thomas rode down with me while his lucky parents got to drive in their car. Thomas and Laura talked and then bickered like an old married couple.

"and guess what" while eating a heart shaped pancake.

We stopped at Dunkin Donuts for some donuts and much needed coffee for the driver.

The house is a cute little cape.
We went to the beach to walk around. It was a nice day, sunny but still cold and windy. The kids picked up shells and ran around.

Then we got some lunch at the British Beer Company.

We went back to the house and Laura and Thomas played on the tire swing for a while before heading back home.

Fashionista

Beginning last week, Laura has started regularly wearing these plastic snow white shoes whenever she is at home. She loves high heels and how the shoes make a click clack noise when she walks. It's a full size too small for her and I know at some point, she is going to fall on her face.

Also for the past week, Laura has been requesting vanilla ice cream every night with whip cream, rainbow sprinkles and a cherry on top. Mmmmm. I wish I could indulge like this all the time.
