The Little Mermaid song.

Ariel might be really upset if she heard this rendition.

Asthma

Poor little girl.  The crazy weather: warm then cold and rainy is messing up her system.  She woke up at 6AM this morning coughing nonstop.  This is her 3rd treatment late this afternoon.  I am grateful that she has not had frequent attacks.

Alex's first birthday

Laura was invited to Leila's little brother's birthday party today.
Beautiful cake.
The kids went outside to play for a little bit.
Laura and I had lunch and then birthday cake at the party.  Then we went to Ikea to buy a couple of lamps for Laura's room and she especially wanted to play in their playroom so much so that she didn't really care what kind of lamps we bought for her room.  Sigh.
Anyway, it was a good day.

Shabu Zen

Laura and I met up with friends for dinner at Shabu Zen.  It was Laura's first time and she was really into it.  She wanted to keep adding everything into the pot.
She ate mostly beef and squid and then her bowl of rice.
She finished her meal with a frozen lychee smoothie for dessert.
Her chopstick skills are getting better.

The Milky Way/Bella Luna parade

Laura and I went to the Parade for The Milky Way/Bella Luna Lounge's move to their new location.  We got there a little late just before the parade started.  The crowd thinned out quickly and we got to meet Mayor Menino!  Laura was not happy because she missed out on the free balloons.

We quickly joined the parade and it was really awesome and had a great neighborhood feel.  I miss living in Jamaica Plain.   There were a lot of kids, dogs and this percussion band that was loud and really rockin.

We got to the new location and had some hot cider, hot chocolate and cupcakes.

This nice young guy gave Laura his balloon and it made her day.

When we made the trek back to the car, Laura said "My feet are slow" because she was really lagging behind and tired from the festivities.

It's still chilly but these little flowers give me hope that the warm summer will be here soon.

Chef Laura

I was making barbecue chicken tonight.  I was going to use the grill outside but it was too cold (wishing and wishing it would get warmer around here).  Anyway, I turned around and Laura came into the kitchen with her entire cooking garb on and proclaimed "I'm going to help you cook, mommy".  Maybe if she gets good enough, I'll get her to cook and clean every night of the week and I can just relax on the couch.  Oh, the dreams I have!

Thomas came over!

It's been a long time since Thomas came over.  I picked him and Laura up at school today.  They started dinner with some asparagus which followed with hotdogs and mac and cheese.  They both ate a ton.

I asked Thomas to give me a smile.
They played around for a little bit and then Thomas requested "The Little Mermaid" video.  It doesn't seem like he was very interested in the movie.
They had some strawberries for dessert.

Thomas was so bored he started playing with Laura's Polly Pockets.  Poor kid.
Surprisingly there was very little fighting and they both had a good time together.

Catherine's birthday party

One of Laura's friends from preschool had a birthday party at Kids Club Fun Land.  Laura had a blast.  It was a small party with 0nly girls except for Catherine's little brother.
Laura was so excited and completely in a crazed high energy mode the entire time.  It was 2 hours of crazy.
Laura really impressed me today because after playing some of the games, she got some tickets and ended up "winning" this plastic ring.  She ended up losing the ring during her wild playtime and instead of coming to me in anguish and whining about losing the ring, she ran directly to the counter and told them that she lost her ring and negotiated with them, ultimately getting herself another one.  I just watched in complete and utter shock.  I never would have done anything like that as a child.

When I watch this video, I wish I was a child again.

Saturday

It was nice this weekend.  Still chilly but Laura got to play outside.

Happy Birthday, Thomas!

We were invited to Thomas' 5th birthday party tonight!
The kids eyeballed all the candy before dinner.
Thomas ate candy for dinner tonight and started with these UFO discs filled with tiny candies.

There was also booger candy!  Yummm.

Birthday Cupcakes.  These cupcakes were really yummy.

Laura helped with the presents, of course.
The aftermath.
Laura tried out some of Thomas' presents.

Then while Thomas played by himself with his new toys, the girls had a dance party in the kitchen.
