Thomas is back

Thomas is back from Australia. He got dropped off for about an hour with Laura on Thursday for a dinner date. They played well together. Then she went over to his house for a couple of hours so mommy could play tennis.

Dinner was grilled cheese, ham and broccoli with "spicy" cheese.

Laura is so bossy
They had fun together and apparently didn't even fight after spending all that time together.

Stella's

We went to Stella's in the South End for a fairwell dinner on Tuesday night for one of Laura's Daddy's colleagues. We didn't realize that it was a bit upscale. If we had known, Laura would have gone to Thomas' for the night. Anyway, we stayed and Laura was a really good girl sitting in her chair for 2 hours for the entire meal. This is Laura after 2 sips of my Mojito!
She only ate olives and french fries for dinner.

She entertained herself by reading her new books and using my camera to take random pictures. Some of her pictures were actually pretty good.
Self portrait.
Book.
Glasses

Here's my entree. Looks good but it was just ok. I got Laura pasta with sauce and she didn't touch it.

We finally got home well after 10pm and her daddy put her to bed in her clothes.
While he was putting her to bed, he said "I love you, Laura".
She said "I love you, daddy. Turn off the light and shut the door."

More snow!

I picked up Laura early on Friday due to the snow. We got about 9 inches but it was nice and fluffy. We stayed out and played around in it. Laura was planting a twig in the snow.

On Saturday, I made a big breakfast of pancakes and bacon and Laura and I set out for a sledding adventure. Here she is with Matthew before we set out for our little trip.
I got her bundled up in her snow suit and boots.
We took a quick trip to Thomas' house to borrow his sled. He'll be back from Australia tomorrow. Laura has been missing him.
Weeeee. We had so much fun. I rode down with her a couple of times but she hogged the sled!

We were exhausted.
Laura kept herself well hydrated though.

Then we had some hot tea and crackers in the car and mommy took a well needed nap.

President's Day weekend

Nothing exciting this weekend.
Friday night: Laura had a chance to look through all of her Valentine's cards and candies from her classmates.
On Saturday, I heard her get up in the morning and being very quiet. She came down about 15 minutes later dressed in this outfit, pantyhose and all.
I bought this stand from IKEA so that she can do artwork and her letters on the board.
Sunday: More miscellaneous shopping. We went to Old Navy and Linens 'N Things. I was looking for an item and turned around to see her in this massage chair.
You must know how strict I am when you look at this picture. Here is Laura eating dinner with no intention of eating her Valentine's candy that is sitting right in front of her plate.

There was crazy weather on President's Day. It was about 60 degrees with high winds and crazy rain. Laura and I went to Ikea again b/c there was a free "Magic show". We went to the 11am show. Laura was shy and wanting to sit on mommy's lap and being all needy. See the tongue "I'm feeling uncomfortable" look?

The Magician.

The look she gave me when I made her stand up b/c my legs were about to fall off from her sitting on them for 1/2 hr.

Then we drove to her daddy's work for lunch.

A quick trip to Trader Joes and our local bakery and down for a nap.

From Dr. Seuss' ABC book:
This is what she is saying: Painting pink pajamas, policeman in a pail, Peter Pepper's puppy and now papa's in a pail.

Blast from the past

This was Laura at 10 months old and the way she used to "crawl". I called it the sideways shuffle.

This week

Happy Valentine's!
We've been crafty this week. Laura made some cards.
I put lipstick on her so that she could put poh pohs (kisses) on her cards.
Here she is kissing one of her cards.

She also helped me make cookies for her school. Who needs a mixing stand when you have a child to do it for you! I made sugar cookies but messed up the dough. I doubled the amount of butter so it was soooo difficult to work with. It took forever and was very painful and the cookies were obviously very buttery.

In between all of this, Laura caught some bug and was vomitting. She woke up at 2:30AM and had vomitted all over her bed, pillow, sheets so she hopped into my bed. I stayed home with her today. Here she is being a complete bed hog. For some reason, whenever she is in my bed, she becomes horizontal and I always have to shove her to the other side. Today she was all better and back to her normal self. She helped me decorate the cookies. She didn't like the cookies and only ate the candies on top.

Here's a picture of me and my siblings with my mom that my sister sent to me today. I love the expression on our faces and my brother's Dorothy Hamill hairdo.

Laura is better

I came home from Jury duty today and Laura's father styled her hair into a mullet. Ok. This photo looks ok but look at the next one.
Laura's activity level and appetite has returned to normal. She didn't even nap today. She ate some homemade chicken soup for dinner.
For dessert, she requested BBQ potato chips. Not brownies!
Look at this clown.

Superbowl Sunday

So Laura is sick again (which explains the brownies). She woke up this morning at 10:30am with a fever. I gave her some tylenol and then she said "I'm not sick anymore" and wanted to dress up.
This was short lived and she continued to go downhill for the rest of the afternoon. Her father took a look at her this evening after he got home from work and thinks that she's got strep again and an ear infection so we started her on antibiotics AGAIN!
Needless to say, we sat down for a feast of BBQ ribs and all the sides while watching the superbowl and Laura ate some and proceeded to vomit all of her dinner back on her plate. Aren't you glad I didn't get any photos of that?!
Anyway, we watched the Patriots lose and by then, Laura was feeling better.

A side story: One of the girls babysitting at the gym told me that she asked Laura if she was going to watch the superbowl and Laura said "I don't got that movie".

Saturday

Today was spent doing many errands.
I made these yummy brownies topped with chocolate chips and marshmallows which was gooey, chewy, rich and decadent. Of course, no one has been eating this except me.
I asked Laura if she wanted a piece and she opted for a bagel with cream cheese. What is wrong with this girl?!
