October 14, 2006
Laura, Thomas, Dimitri (with Dimitri's grandma) went apple (more like asian pear) picking at Lookout Farm in Natick.
Get your bags ready!

Don't just stand there, get to work!
Good work, Thomas

Put some more in those bags, Laura.

No child labor laws were broken.

2 year checkup

October 13, 2006

36 inches tall (about 95% in height)
25lbs 13.5 oz (about 45% in weight)
18.5" head circumference (50%)

The nurse taking the measurements said, "hey, she's 3 feet tall" and hubby says, "wow, she'll be as tall as you when she's 4!" doh.

She had such a good visit with her pediatrician. No crying, no fear, no anxiety. Finally, at the end of the visit, he asked if we wanted her to get her flu and MMR shot, I said "YES" and hubby said "NO". It was such a good visit, he didn't want her to leave with a bad impression, especially since she had cried with anxiety the last couple of visits and we could just get it next month.
We still had to get blood drawn by the lab tech for lead levels and to our amazement, she did not even FLINCH! She actually watched the tech as she was siphoning off her blood. She was so proud of her boo boo and bugs bunny bandaid. She also got a lolly pop and 2 stickers that she pasted on her knees.

The Big E

Laura and I with Thomas' family went to the Big E in Springfield,MA on Saturday. It was a gorgeous day. We got off to a late start and didn't start driving until 10am. We made good time and got there by noon with a stop to McDonalds for fries. Then it took another 1/2 hr to go the last mile. Bad traffic. UUGHH!

Poor elephant. This was a ride. Very sad.

This was the petting zoo. The kids did not pet or feed the animals, (scardy cats)instead they just spit on this poor Llama.

Cream Puffs mustache

They actually had a pickle stand.

She ate this entire pickle and then wanted more!

Milking a fake cow.

Cotton Candy (no fair is complete without this)

The funny thing about this last picture is that this kid in the back of the car actually fell while he was in his stroller just before the ride started and his father just wisked him out and strapped him into the ride before the gates closed. He bawled his eyes out the entire time and Thomas kept looking at him during the ride while Laura kept "driving" and waving to everyone.

Overall it was a fun trip. I would have never done it if it wasn't for Laura and Thomas. The Expo was HUGE and we probably only covered about 1/4 of it. We did have our fill of fair food: fries, corn dogs, cream puffs, pickles, cotton candy. They even had these ginormous smoked turkey legs but that was a little too scary to tackle. By the end of the day, we were all exhausted.

Happy Birthday!

Good Morning, Laura! How old are you?

Salami sandwhich for lunch. Eat up girl.

Let's get ready for your big day.

Birthday party at daycare!

Make a wish!

Back home for presents.

Hmmmm. I wonder what this could be....

Ooooohhhh...

Aaaaaahhhhh....

Woooowwwww...

Look out Venus.

In Laura fashion, the birthday actually started at 2am when she woke up because of a fever. After some motrin, tylenol and 3 frozen ice pops, back to bed. I was planning to send her to daycare but ended up keeping her for the day. She didn't wake up till almost 10am. I ended up doing all the errands (balloons, decorated, etc) with her and then took her to daycare at 2:30pm for her party. She had a good time.
I brought her back home for her presents (it's just not right to open tons of presents in front of other 2 to 3 year olds due to the 'mine, mine, mine' mentality). She was exhausted since she had not napped and was in theory sick. Overall a good birthday with the only downside of not seeing her friend Thomas. At one point she said "I want Omi" two times in a row.
She must have sang the happy birthday song at least 10 times today! Happy birthday, sweetheart!

Labor Day. Sept 4th.

Love is in the air.
Another trip to the Franklin Zoo. A last minute trip to get the kids tired out.
Laura's face says "pucker up, Thomas!"

Smoooooch.

Is that a wild animal on the loose? YES IT IS!

They played on this thing for a good 1/2 hour and we didn't even put any money in it!!! HAHAHAHA!

Vacation is over

Highlights of this weekend. Sorry, no photos!
Labor Day weekend marks the end of my 2 week vacation. Sigh.
My sister came up to visit this weekend and Laura immediately took to her and "defected". Every word out of her mouth was "Ymo,ymo, ymo" (Aunt in Korean) and she would give a running commentary on what she was doing. "Ymo shower". "Ymo done shower". "Ymo bye bye". It was a really good visit.

The other highlight was going to Dim Sum on Sunday. I met up with friends visiting from out of town and we went to China Pearl. I had never been there before and it was really good. The place was packed too but seating was pretty quick. Laura was pretty good with eating dumplings and rice but the highlight came when we decided to get snails. She was eating it up. "More" she kept saying one after the other. The problem was that they were still in their shells so I had to dig it out with a toothpick and I wasn't giving it to her fast enough. She also had tripe and ate some of that too. TRIPE! which I am squeamish about! I have to admit that they did do a really good job and they were pretty tasty without the funky aftertaste.

Back to work, back to reality. Sigh....

Tampa trip

At the hotel pool

Laura's most adored toy of all time: BALLOON (with emphasis on the first syllable)

Fast friends: Janise and Laura

Laura afraid of the carousel

Laura playing with the "big kids"

Overall and uneventful trip but great to spend some time with the family and friends. Laura had a great time with all the kids to play with which she doesn't really have in Boston.
