Playground

I took Laura to the playground yesterday.  It was the first time since the winter.  It was a short reprieve since it snowed again today.

She spent most of her time on these monkey bars.  This other girl kept showing off and Laura tried her darnest to get across on her own but ultimately failed and chickened out.  After multiple attempts she said "Let's go home, mommy."!  I don't think she has ever uttered those words while at a playground!  Poor girl, her spirit was broken.

Saturday, March 7, 2009

Laura woke up at 11AM today.  I wish I could take advantage of that and sleep in.  We started off by putting this crystal tattoo on her belly that Ymo gave her.  She loves it and kept checking it the entire day to make sure they hadn't fallen off.
We picked up Thomas and his dad and went to Chinatown for Dim Sum at China Pearl.  It has been a long time since we had some Dim Sum.  This is the FAO Schwartz bear that sits in front of the Tufts Medical Center where we parked.

Don't let these photos fool you.  They were fighting like cats and dogs the entire time.
Laura tried some chicken feet and after eating the first one, she asked for more.  Ick!

Even though I was stuffed, I still wanted some Lychee bubble tea.  It's so good.
After all that food, I just needed a nap.  It was nice out so she played with the boys next door for a while.
We went swimming later and even while swimming she kept trying to check her crystal tattoo! Even after showering, they stayed on.

We met up with Thomas and his parents for some ice cream today but just before getting to the shop, Laura fell while crossing the street and skinned her knee.
We got home after our ice cream run and she showed me some of her Karate moves.  I have a feeling that she's not going to be very tough girl growing up.

Then I took her swimming.

Green eggs and Spam

When I picked up Laura from school, she was a bit sad because she got to school too late this morning and missed out on a fun project at school.  The teacher read the kids "Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss and then they actually made it and ate it.  The teacher told me to use blue food coloring so that when it combines with the yellow yolk, it will turn green.   Wow that looks gross.  I didn't have any ham so we used Spam!  She ate the whole plate.

Saturday, February 21, 2009

Laura and I had a great day together doing just the mundane.  She woke up late and we ate breakfast together consisting of ruby red gratefruit, fried eggs and toast.  She inhaled it.  She did some number exercises and then we watched "Schoolhouse Rock" for about 1/2 hr.

Then we took a stroll outside.  She's getting much better on her tricycle.   It was sunny but still very cold.
We came back for lunch and she requested a jelly sandwhich and goldfish.  I had some soup but she ended up eating all of her lunch and my soup.  She must be having a growth spurt.   She had to wear her sunglasses during lunch because it was too sunny in the kitchen.  Yeah, ok.
Then I took a nap, I don't know what she did.  We then did some errands for a few hours consisting of getting my watch battery changed, picking up some cupcakes and going to Gymboree for some new outfits for Laura.  Then dinner of baked chicken, corn and green beans which she inhaled.  She never eats all 3 meals well but she did today.  Then we did a puzzle together and I did some laundry.

Glimpse into the future

I tucked Laura into bed after reading her a couple of stories and after saying good night, she reached into her purse next to her bed and pulled out her fake cell phone and started having a conversation.  I think this is what I have to look forward to sooner than I think.

Short visit to Philly

Laura and I drove down to Philly this weekend so that I could celebrate one of my closest friend's birthday.  Ymo and Hah da buh gee babysat.  My dad also made this giant prime rib for lunch because we came down.
Laura was playing with her toys.  Wait to the end of the video to hear Ymo bossing me around. I can't believe she thinks I'm the bossy one!

Getting ready for Valentine's Day

There's supposed to be a Valentine's party all week at Laura's school.  On Sunday, Laura signed most of her Valentine's cards for her classmates.
Then tonight, we made Oreo truffles.   It was a bit messy but fun to make.  It's from this blog.
Crush the Oreo cookies.
Mix with cream cheese.

Roll into balls.

Dip into melted almond bark and add sprinkes.

Saturday

Laura's dad and I attended a conference at the Marriott in Copley which was an all day affair.  It provided child care so Laura spent the whole day watching movies and playing games.  The Marriott is connected to the Copley mall and she wanted to put some coins in the fountain.

Laura was showing us some of her yoga moves today.
Then we made a Valentine's day vanilla butter cake with frosting since I will be out of town next weekend.  It was really really good.

Homemade oreo cookies

Laura and I made these last night from a recipe that I got from here.
Suffice it to say that my diet is not going very well.   I thought they were still on the sweet side even though I cut the sugar by 1/4 cup.  It was fun making them though.

self portrait

Laura drew this today and said that it was a picture of herself when she was a baby.  She has a binky and a bottle in her mouth.

Words and numbers

Today after breakfast, I went over some words and numbers with Laura.  Laura is very stubborn.  Let me just say that I have to give teachers a lot of credit because even after 30 minutes of this, I was about to pull all of my hair out.  I never thought that looking at feet all day was so much easier.
