This is the 9th Annual festival which was held inside the Forest Hills Cemetery. I've never gone inside but have passed it numerous times. It's actually beautiful and a very large green space. The festival is to celebrate the memory of someone we have lost and the floating latern is apparently an asian ritual to help guide the ancestors back to the spirit world.
Some short performances during the ceremony.
Laura and Thomas spent most of their time either throwing rocks or berries in the pond.
My latern with "peace" and Laura and Thomas' art work.
The festival was nice. I would like to do it again next year but next time, with a nice picnic dinner and some wine. It's very calming, laid back (well except for the tots) and makes you reflective. I thought a lot about my mom.
