Cherries

I bought cherries for the first time this season and Laura went crazy for it. I had to stop her from eating the whole bag.
A little OCD.
I thought high heels were bad but this may be worse.

Colors of the rainbow

After her swimming lesson on Sunday, I noticed that she had a fever (I should have known since she was all clingy and did not do well in her class and kept shivering even though the water was warm (I know, I'm a bad mom)). Anyway, her dad stayed home with her today but had to go to a meeting at 11am so he dropped her off at my work for about an hour then he picked her back up and took her to her pediatrician (who found nothing). Probably just a virus.

Anyway, this morning, when I was checking her temperature, I looked in her ear and she had lodged a small pink bead in it. Ugh. I had to get some tools to get that out but essentially, she was pretending to put some earrings on her unpierced ears.

She must not be feeling that bad because she rode her bicycle around the block twice and then sang this little song just before bed.

July 4

During the day, Laura picked these yellow weeds, I mean, flowers for me from the lawn.

We went to Leila and her new brother, Alex's house for an informal bbq. Leila's almost 2 years younger than Laura and likes to say "Dah". She was entralled with Laura.

I took some photos of all the flowers in their yard. It makes me love summer.
Laura wanted to swim but it was too cold so she just dipped her feet in their pool.
They also have a mulberry tree in the back yard and we harvested a ton of berries that Laura gobbled up. Leila didn't care for them. They were yummy.

Then the girls had dinner together and a little bit of activity afterwards.

We got home in time to watch a little bit of the fireworks on tv.

Past week

Here are some random photos. I put Laura to bed last week and when I came in to check on her, I found her like this.
A couple of hours later, I found her like this.

Today was windy so we flew her kite. We're still waiting for Laura's Ymo to cut the grass.
I took her swimming, again. She really improves every time I take her. She can tread water by herself even though she looks like she's about to drown.

Sunday

We did the usual Sunday routine: 2hrs of tennis, Laura had her swim lesson, late lunch at Panera's.
Later that afternoon, Laura and I decided to walk to Sugar Bakery for some Woopie Pies. I called Thomas to see if he would like to join us for a walk with his dad. It was nice and sunny and in the 80's. Thomas was looking for some ants to eat.

When we got to the bakery, it was closed so we went to the ice cream place next door. As soon as we left, there was a downpour. We (Thomas' dad and I) kept dry under the T station platform. The kids, however, went crazy in the rain.

They were having a great time until Laura tripped and scraped her knee. Look at that face.
Thomas' mom picked us up.
Laura was asking Thomas to stop screaming. Why do boys scream so much?

Saturday

Nothing too exciting this week. The weather has been weird all week. Overcast, bouts of thunderstorms, muggy, blech.
I got Laura a kite and she's been eying it in the closet for the past week so after much begging and pleading, I put it together and let her loose in the back yard today. She must have run around the house at least 10 times.

We had a snack and then we went swimming. Laura is just starting to learn how to tread water. I was so proud of her. Then I took her for some ice cream (orange sherbet, her favorite) and then we came home for some dinner.

Where the hell is Matt?

This has been floating around on the internet. It has nothing to do with Laura but every time I watch it, it makes me cry.

Vivica's birthday party

Laura was invited to Vivica's 5th birthday party at "The Little Gym".

The birthday girl.
Under the parachute. (yes, I went under the parachute too. I'm a crazy camera mom)
Ice cream cake.
Laura had a great time. She knew a bunch of the girls there so she really participated and ran around a lot.
When we got home, she put on her apron and heels. Hmmm. What's that about?

Strawberry picking!

Dimitri and his grandma joined us for strawberry picking at Belkin's Lookout Farm.

Thomas and his parents joined us a little later.
We went back to the car to put the strawberries away. Laura and Thomas were screaming for no reason.
Then we went back on the "train" to the playground and ate lunch. We let the kids run around.
There was a maze.

A petting zoo.
It was fun but labor intensive. Laura and I collapsed after we got home and took a long nap.
