Columbus Day

We made our yearly pilgrimage to Lookout Farm for some apple picking. When we arrived, the place was packed and a young woman was letting everyone know that there was slim pickings due to heavy rains in September. We decided to forgo the tradition and instead just picked up some already picked apples, Asian pears and a pumpkin.

We then went to Larz Anderson park and had lunch at the picnic tables. It was nippy out.
We let the kids play at the playground.
Then we took a stroll of the area. The trees were beautiful.

The kids spent most of the time rolling down the hills.

And chasing these poor geese.

When we got home, Laura and I carved the pumpkin that I bought. Laura wanted hearts, stars and butterflies.

Sunday

Laura dressed herself today and when she came down to show me what she was wearing, I was a little embarrassed at the ensemble.  I almost made her change but after turning 40 yesterday and wallowing in my misery, I decided that I would just pretend that she was a homeless girl that I took under my wing.  She went to Target with me dressed like this.

The day was really beautiful again and Laura wanted to eat more of my cake outside.  See how happy cake makes her?
I didn't even play tennis today.  Oy!
We went to the park for almost 2 hours.  She would slide down and then we would touch fingers and shock each other.

typical night

Laura loves swimming in the tub and clowning around.

She asked me to take a picture of her with the towel over her head and thought this was hilarious.
She also likes her hair wrapped up.  I decided the ears were too much so I hid them in the towel.  Much better.
This video was taken at 9:30 pm during the week.   Her energy level makes me exhausted.

My birthday

The day was absolutely gorgeous.  Sunny and warm.  Laura wanted to play hopscotch and then we pet the neighborhood dog, Pooch.  Laura kept singing happy birthday but would sing "Happy birthday, Laura" NOT Mommy!

Nothing exciting for my birthday.  Hubby had to work tonight so it was a birthday lunch at Bugaboo Creek and a Carvel ice cream cake which I inhaled mostly on my own.  The big 40.

Random photos

Tuesday:  Laura thought it was too sunny so she had to wear her sunglasses to dinner.

Wednesday dinner: she requested waffles for dinner with strawberry/blueberry concoction on the side and sausages.

I played tennis tonight at the gym and got a shot of Laura and her friends: Vivica and Katie.

Saturday

We just kept ourselves busy today and did a lot of nothing.
Look at those ears!

We "played" tennis for about 10 minutes.

Then the library.  There was a book sale so we bought a couple of books.
At the end of the day we went to the playground and Laura was becoming somewhat fearless.

Then hubby bought Five Guys burgers for dinner and we all chowed.
Laura begged me to bake tonight starting with chocolate chip cookies, then sugar cookies then muffins and finally she decided she wanted cupcakes so that she could color the icing.  Well, we made carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting that we put different food coloring into.  The irony is that Laura wanted to eat the cupcake without the frosting.  They do look kind of gross but the cupcakes were really yummy.

Friday night

I picked Laura and Thomas up from preschool and Laura was so excited to have a dinner guest. To show everyone what a great hostess she was, she bossed him around and yelled at him the whole night.
Thomas kept telling us that he wants to dress up as a zebra or giraffe for halloween but secretly I think he wants to be a mermaid.
Then they ate their "pasketi" dinner.

Laura loves tea.
