Bridal shower

I got Korean food catered for the Bridal shower. This spread was awesome.
Maddy and Laura were acting like real princesses.
Maddy and her mom.

Princess Laura
Max and his mom.

Fabulous roof deck.
Ymo is ready to chow.
Ymo ready to chow on the cake.
The game. The presents. Laura helped.

Ymo was so happy with her bridal shower. Then I got to relax a little bit before the long ride back home.

Dress fitting

Laura and I drove down to NYC on Friday night.
I bought her this huge Princess activity book that actually has numbers and letter so I can justify indulging her girliness as long as I think she's learning something. (keep hope alive) We took a walk to the restaurant for brunch before going to the dress shop. Brunch was really good. Laura got a lemon cupcake for dessert which we shared with everyone.
Then we all had our fittings for the bridesmaid dresses and Laura got to try on her flower girl dress. One of Laura's shots.

Then she relaxed at the dress shop on some comfy pillows.
Then we got ice cream, of course. Laura and Ymo were tired out after all that activity and walking.
For dinner we went to Iron Chef. Ymo is practicing for her best "married" expression.
The sushi was sooooo good. I couldn't eat enough.

Clothes

I actually convinced Laura to wear something other than the 5 dresses that she owns. It was a big challenge.
She was out of school last week for 4 days because of high fevers but she's back to her usual self. After school, I made dinner and she requested that we eat outside.
It was a gorgeous summer day and a great idea. I can't believe it's August already and I'm not looking forward to another New England winter.

Blueberry picking

Thomas invited us to go blueberry picking at Ward's Berry Farm. We came over when Thomas' dad was cleaning out the turtle cage. Thomas likes making funny faces for the camera now.
These guys are big. Bevis and Butthead or Lenny and Squiggy.
Ward's Berry Farm was great. Very laid back and no admission fee. The blueberries were yum.
Walking to the bushes. More faces.

Then ice cream to end the day.

Then I made this.

Popsicles

Busy,busy, busy

This was from Saturday. Laura and I met up with Gabby and her parents (friends of mine from Hartford during residency). We met at Legal's Seafood at the Prudential mall for dinner. I knew Gabby since she was about 4 to 5 years old and now she is almost an adult. I'm so old. Anyway, Laura really took a liking to her and continues to ask me about her.
We stopped at Sephora on our way out and Laura almost passed out when she saw all the makeup in that store.
I have been very very busy so the posts have been sparse. I'll be changing jobs soon and my last day is August 22 so there's a lot of paperwork and transitioning things to take care of. Also, Ymo's bridal shower!
I should have taken a video of me and Laura yesterday on the tennis court. I'll remember next time because it's hilarious.

Friday, July 25

I picked up Laura from school and she made a hook and eyepatch and kept saying "Arrrghhh, hello matey". It's very cute. Then she helped me wash the car.

Appendectomy

I told my dad to go to the ER on Tuesday when he called me and told me that he had pain, nausea and dizziness. They took him that evening for an emergent appendectomy. I drove down, picked up my sister in NYC and then arrived at the hospital at 4am.
Obviously this is a picture the next morning. Dad is doing well and recovering nicely.

My sister drooled all over my dad's hospital food.
