Moving

Hi all! (ok, maybe 3 to 5 entire followers)

I am making the jump to use Worldpress. It's still new to me so I'm still trying to navigate the website but I will start posting there. It is not as easy as blogger but the pictures are better.

Sunday, April 11

After Laura's swim lesson, we went to her school for "Mother-daughter tea party". Laura was very excited about this event. She wore her flower girl dress from Ymo's wedding but wanted to wear a pink shirt and lime green capri's underneath. Uh, ok, Laura, I think that matches really well.
After being there for 10 whole minutes, she was whining because there were vendors selling dolls and clothing and she wanted me to buy her an American girl doll. I had to give her a good talking to outside the gym. Look at this pouty face.
She perked up after eating some sandwhiches and then watched the fashion show.

Then we had some dessert. Lots and lots of dessert. Laura had maybe 5 or 6 mini muffins and I ate a ton of cookies and other baked goods that even slightly looked appealing.

Then there was a freeze dance competition. It was well run and the good thing about this was that after being eliminated, all the girls got a small prize. After Laura's friends were eliminated, she deliberately kept dancing so that she would get booted out to get her prize.

Then the girls spent the rest of the time playing with their dolls on the floor and under the food table.

It ended up being a gorgeous day so I took Laura to Millenium park. We flew her new butterfly kite that we got from the Butterfly Place but it was seriously too windy so she ended up playing mostly at the playground and had a great time.
We ended the day with a healthy dinner of grilled beef over salad and ate outside. This was to counteract eating so badly at lunch.

It was such a nice weekend. I'm so sad it's already over.

Saturday

I bought this brand new gorgeous refrigerator and it was delivered on Friday. Unfortunately, it's not working. Now I have to run down to the basement in order to use our old refrigerator until the new one is fixed.
The basement is unfinished and it's pretty dirty and dusty down there so this morning, Laura helped me sweep some of the dirt off the floor. While I was on the other side of the basement, I asked Laura to bring me a small plastic bag so that we can put the dirt into it. She said "Sure!". She brought it down and then I heard her struggling and saying how hard it was putting the dirt into the bag. I turned around and found that she had brought down a sandwich bag. Ok, I know I said small but that is just ridiculous.
We went to the gym, came back for an awesome lunch of healthy salad.
Laura's salad. She ate about 3/4 of it with a lot of protest.
My salad! I pretty much dumped anything I could find into it. Yummy!

Then Laura and I took a trip to "The Butterfly Place" in Westford, Ma. It's a cute little place with lots of live butterflies.

Laura was trying to sit very still so that the butterflies would land on her.

Still hope

There is still hope that she will end up as an artist when she matures. After school, she went upstairs and put this eclectic outfit on. Then I told her she could watch a little tv.

Instead of cartoons or some kid show, she wanted to watch this craft show. I have no idea what this woman was making.

We met up with Thomas and his dad for sushi dinner. It's been so long since we have had sushi. It was a real treat (it would have been a bigger treat if these kids actually behaved). Both kids ate A TON. I was pretty shocked especially with Thomas since he is not a big eater. They still managed to annoy the crap out of us during the entire meal. Lots of food spills, chopsticks flying and just general mayhem. Don't let the pictures fool you. They both had horns on their heads during this meal.

A taste of summer

It was a record breaking heat wave in Boston today with the temperature up to 90 degrees! We celebrated by eating dinner outside. I made Laura's favorite dinner, lettuce wraps. She devoured them.

Then I gave her some cherry Twizzlers for dessert.

Then when I was bringing everything in and cleaning up, she decided to have seconds!
She's been eating well since she was punished on Tuesday. I found out that she ate a total of 3 apple slices for lunch, threw out a perfectly good yogurt and didn't touch her sandwich. I brought her home, had her change into her pajamas and she went to bed with no dinner. The next morning, she got up, went straight downstairs and got some cereal from the cupboard and said "I'm hungry". I think she learned her lesson.

Busy Saturday!

We got up early to go to the Easter Egg hunt that they have every year at Roslindale square. Laura was very excited to go.
I had a hard time finding parking and we were 5 minutes late and the whole thing was over. All the eggs were found and Laura was in tears. We still stayed and did some activities. She had her face painted.
We met the rather very emaciated Easter bunny but she didn't want to get a picture with him. Yeah, I understand. I would be afraid that he would try to take a bite of my leg or something. And what's with the tie?

She didn't want to play any of the games. There was a great egg toss game and a hopping race but she was not in the mood.
We met up with Thomas and a friend named Colleen. Her mom gave Laura this chocolate cake egg from the nearby bakery. Chocolate always makes everything better.

We got back home and I did some home projects including staining the deck. It was hot out. I am still completely astounded that we are actually having a spring in Boston. It is truly unbelievable.

We took a trip to Lowes for more supplies. When we got back home, Laura's Easter basket was filled to the brim with lovely beaded Easter eggs. I asked her where she got them from and she said "From the tree outside!". She swiped all these pretty decorative eggs from our neighbors yard so I had to put them all back. Silly rabbit.

For dinner, we had egg salad, of course. Actually I had egg salad. Laura ate some of mine. We already had it for breakfast and will be having some more tomorrow and probably the day after that. Well, I should say that I will be having it since I am the one who usually eats all the leftovers.

I topped my egg salad with shredded cheese, a piece of salami and some cooked spinach. Laura had a bite and said it was yummy but then didn't want anymore.
